Energy Options has
23 years of selling and installing small and medium sized wind turbines.
Residential and
small commercial wind turbines (400 watt to 50 kilowatt) are the most
cost effective renewable energy source in windy areas. Depending on
the state, there are often cash incentives for qualifying turbines.
On December 14, 2007, Congress passed a farm bill that included a $4,000
tax credit for rural wind turbines up to 10 kW. It is expect to become
law before the summer of 2008.
Depending on the
state and county, permitting cost to install a turbine can range between
$500 and $8,000. In California, Los Angeles County is one of the most
expensive counties but it also contains half the states natural high
wind resources (see map).
The permitting process in other counties like Kern and San Bernardino
counties are much less expensive.

EXCEL (brochure)
The BWC EXCEL is a modern 23 ft diameter, 10,000 watt wind turbine designed
for high reliability, low maintenance, and automatic operation in adverse
weather conditions. It is available in two configurations: battery charging
and grid-connected. The electronics are on the ground. These turbines
are well suited for large rural homes, remote villages and facilities,
eco-tourism resorts, and larger telecommunications sites. This model is
by far the most common small wind turbine in California.

XL.1 - 24/48 Volt DC Battery Charging Inverter (brochure)
The XL.1 is an up-wind, horizontal-axis, three- bladed turbine and combines
a number of advanced technical features at an affordable cost. The blades
are protruded fiberglass, a material that is over ten times stronger than
the injection-molded plastic used on most small wind turbines. The XL.1
includes the BWC Power-Center controller which controls battery charging,
has a low-end boost for superior low wind speed performance, "slow-mode"
rotor idling when the batteries are full, an electrical braking system,
and even includes a 30 amp controller for solar modules that are often
a part of a hybrid system.

POWER SKYSTREAM 3.7 (brochure)
The Skystream 3.7™ is a new generation residential wind generator that
hooks up to your home to reduce or eliminate your monthly electrical bill.
It's the first wind turbine with electronic controls and inverter built
into the turbine, located at the top of the tower. It is the first turbine
to have the same UL listing as a small appliance, such as a microwave
oven. It is designed to provide quiet, clean electricity in very low winds.
This makes Skystream 3.7 (1.8 kW) ideal for residential homes and small
businesses.
Energy Options also
offers 30 – 50kW refurbished turbines from Aeroman, Nortank, Jacobs and
others. They are ideal for larger energy users agricultural and other
business installations. For a comparison of turbine cost and performances
in a residential or commercial application see charts below:
